چکیده

With the aim of probing the effect of magnetic disorder in the low-temperature excitations of manganites, specific-heat measurements were performed in zero field, and in magnetic fields up to 9 T in polycrystalline samples of La0.7−xYxCa0.3MnO3, with Y concentrations x = 0, 0.10, and 0.15. Yttrium doping yielded the appearance of a cluster-glass state, giving rise to unusual low-temperature behavior of the specific-heat. The main feature observed in the results is a strong enhancement of the specific-heat linear term, which is interpreted as a direct consequence of magnetic disorder. The analysis was further corroborated by resistivity measurements in the same compounds.

Unusual ferromagnetism enhancement in ferromagnetically optimal manganite La0.7−yCa0.3+yMn1−yRuyO3 (0≤y<0.3): the role of Mn-Ru t2g super-exchange

The eg-orbital double-exchange mechanism as the core of physics of colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) manganites is well known, which usually covers up the role of super-exchange at the t2g-orbitals. The role of the double-exchange mechanism is maximized in La0.7Ca0.3MnO3, leading to the concurrent metal-insulator transition and ferromagnetic transition as well as CMR effect. In this work, by a s...

Effects of lattice distortion and Jahn–Teller coupling on the magnetoresistance of La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 and La0.5Ca0.5CoO3 epitaxial films

Studies of La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 epitaxial films on substrates with a range of lattice constants reveal two dominant contributions to the occurrence of colossal negative magnetoresistance (CMR) in these manganites: at high temperatures (T → TC , TC being the Curie temperature), the magnetotransport properties are predominantly determined by the conduction of lattice polarons, while at low temperatures...

Evolution of the low-frequency spin dynamics in ferromagnetic manganites

Elastic and inelastic neutron scattering was used to study two ferromagnetic manganites A1−xBxMnO3 (x ≈ 0.3) with Tc=197.9 K and 300.9 K. The spin dynamical behavior of these is similar at low temperatures, but drastically different at temperatures around Tc. While the formation of spin clusters of size (∼ 20 Å) dominates the spin dynamics of the 197.9 K sample close to Tc, the paramagnetic to ...

Magnon damping by magnon-phonon coupling in manganese perovskites

Inelastic neutron scattering was used to systematically investigate the spin-wave excitations ~magnons! in ferromagnetic manganese perovskites. In spite of the large differences in the Curie temperatures (TC’s! of different manganites, their low-temperature spin waves have very similar dispersions with the zone-boundary magnon softening and broadening that cannot be explained by the canonical d...

Spin-polarized tunneling spectroscopic studies of the intrinsic heterogeneity and pseudogap phenomena in colossal magnetoresistive manganite La0.7Ca0.3MnO3

Spatially resolved tunneling spectroscopic studies of colossal magnetoresistive (CMR) manganite La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 (LCMO) epitaxial films on (LaAlO3)0.3(Sr2AlTaO6)0.7 substrate are investigated as functions of temperature, magnetic field and spin polarization by means of scanning tunneling spectroscopy. Systematic surveys of the tunneling spectra taken with Pt/Ir tips reveal spatial variations on t...
